Thames Reach

This inspiring glass staircase is located in the Thames Reach development designed by Richard Rogers, a seminal example of the High-Tech style of the mid-eighties.

Using a similar design to the St. Katherines Dock staircase, this variation of the cantilever system uses stainless steel plates inserted into triple laminated treads to secure the toughened glass balustrade in position.

Both balustrade panels are fully suspended and do not connect back to the floor structure highlighting the strength of the cantilever system  The final result is a striking design that compliments the light double-height glass façade.

Designed and project managed during my time with Elite Metalcraft.
