Great Suffolk Street

Located within a refurbished Victorian warehouse constructed in the 1890's, these monolithic feature staircases stitch the floors together within a glazed enclosure. Cantilevered between floor levels, they present a dark and imposing feature to this office building.

To minimise site welding within the confined stairwell, each flight was fully constructed in the workshops before being craned into position through a large skylight, temporarily removed for access.

Brass handrails and tread nosing strips contrast against the 'gun metal' finish used on the 20mm thick mild steel structure.
